One Heart Worldwide x Hummingbirds Trip
Nepal
November 3rd to 11th, 2019
Only TWELVE spots!
In November 2019, Hummingbirds will take flight in a new way. We have partnered with One Heart Worldwide to offer an exceptional experience to become an ambassador for global birth and delivery support and to visit Nepal on a richly cultural, multi-city tour. The trip will be booked through Banyan Routes. Please see below for more details.
Support for One Heart Worldwide
Each year in Nepal, there are an average of 630,000 deliveries, many of which take place at home without a skilled provider present. Each year in Nepal, 1,500 women die in childbirth, and more than 13,000 babies die within their first month of life. Women literally face death in order to give life. One Heart Worldwide works to make sure that every woman has access to a safe and clean delivery by training skilled birth attendants, upgrading health facilities and engaging the community.
During our stay, we will visit a birthing center backed by OHW. In addition to our financial contribution towards future birthing centers, we have the opportunity to become representatives for the organization in our communities. Becoming an ambassador is about sharing the incredible stories of the Nepalese women and the places and faces we visit along the way. We’ll talk lots more about this once you sign on!
Dhulikel Mountain Resort
We’ll spend a night at the luxurious Dhulikel Mountain Resort, surrounded by the breathtaking, lush Himalayas. Explore the town’s rich culture and nearby historic temples, and enjoy the serene sounds of its nature.
Camping in Tokarpur (Ramecchap)
After a picturesque jeep tour through ancient villages and rice fields, we’ll set up camp in the gorgeous countryside. We’ll dine with Sherpas, meet the local community and spend an evening under the stars.
The Jungle of Chitwan National Park
Just miles from the Indian border, perched on the edge of the Rapti River and the world famous Chitwan National Park, we’ll stay at the Barahi Jungle Lodge riverside cottages. Take an elephant safari into the jungle with a resident naturalist to explore the wildlife which includes, among many other animals, the one horned Asian rhinoceros, sloth bears, gharial, deer, and if we’re lucky, the elusive Royal Bengal tiger.
